For a fun jaunt to learn something new today, warm up your ADD-clicking-pointer-finger and schlep your talented self on over to these YouTube Channels on for cutting-edge news, information and inspiration in advertising and design:
ADC (
The Art Director's Club) has joined YouTube to offer the Show & Tell channel. Visit to ogle creatives showing off their best work and process what different creative experts in advertising, design and interview think is top-notch. If you are a student or recent grad, ADC does a great job of encouraging your success and offering many different opportunities to get involved in the industry, from NY events to Young Guns. The site is fun to click around with lots of white space, animations, and best of all, it brings back those days of weekly show-and-tells that you dreaded-but-secretly-loved. Be prepared to have some fun on this channel.
AdAge (AdvertisingAge) is also on YouTube. Mosey on over to find insightful glimpses into the top trending viral ads in the industry as well as key conference ideas from greats like executives from Goodby, Silverstein and Partners, Ogilvy and WPP. It's like Ferris Bueller cut out all the boring stuff and made a channel to keep up-to-date while saving yourself plenty of time to drive your Ferrari and dance in a street parade, or spend your day as you choose. It's the CliffNotes version of what's happening in the industry.
Fast.Forward. Channel on YouTube brings you quick perspectives on the changing face of marketing and advertising from sponsors like smarts like Wharton, Google, and Crispin, Porter + Bogusky. From trends to the future of advertising, these bite-sized videos of knowledge will leave you smarter than before you visited. It's like having The Matrix's direct uploading capabilities from a vast world of brilliant experts in marketing and advertising without the weird neck plug (ick) and inane flashing of images.
Last, this channel is not advertising or graphic design related, but it's good fun visually and captures your imagination:
MIT's SENSEable City Lab site links to all of their projects and YouTube videos (and is more visually pleasing than their YouTube channel). Their ideas and projects are helpful for getting your creative juices flowing for your high-concept advertising projects. Be sure to check out "Flyfire":
